Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started in the field of radio and television reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. Then, she became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was named as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell is a former panelist and anchor of the TV program Meet the Press. She served on a panel for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards in journalism, among them an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell initially covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the weapons control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
